how to make it as a blogger

New bloggers are constantly looking for ways to make blogging into a career. For lots of bloggers, this will never be a reality. But for the lucky few, they will be able to turn their passion into a money making platform. I decided to share the one piece of advice that all bloggers use, but don’t necessarily share, on how to make it as a blogger.

So you want to know how to make it as a blogger. I have received the same advice from many successful bloggers on just how to accomplish this. They all say if you want to make it in this business, you have to be yourself. It may sound super simple, but all of the movers and shakers of the the industry swear by this little piece of advice. They say that if you aren’t authentic to yourself, no one is going to hear your message. If no one is hearing your message, then you aren’t able to make an impact in any capacity whether it’s food blogging or being an activist for an important cause.

If you were expecting to get some get rich quick advice, you’re not going to hear it from me. I am a strong believer in working your ass off to get what you want. I don’t think that amazing things come easy… you have to work for the good shit. Many of the bloggers that are making a living (and a good one at that) are hustlers. They are working from sunrise to sunset and didn’t use any quick schemes to get to where they are.

So start actioning this tip now. Be who you are in your pics, in your captions, and in your posts. Not only will you be more relatable in your posts, but your blog can be a place of catharsis and solace for you and your readers. People will recognize your transparency and appreciate that they’re not trying to be sold, on you or the companies that you collaborate with. It’s a win win.

I decided to write this post because when I was asked to be one of Rebecca Minkhoff’s newly launched swimwear line, I was hesitant to put my body out there, in a swimsuit, only 5 months post-partum. However, in the spirit of transparency and authenticity, I decided to put my ass in one of her sick swimsuits and the response was amazing. I received words of encouragement and positivity. It was an incredible pat on the back and just emphasized all the reasons we should be ourselves in every facet of our lives.
